It’s been a while old friends, classmates, and teammates, remember the past and read the following:
Remember the days you participated in high school sports. Remember attending the football or basketball games with your face painted and dressed in red and black, chanting…we will, we will rock you.
High school athletics played a significant part in your life. Back then, we never thought about where the uniforms came from or the gym or field we played on.
Now, thirty-some years later, we are more likely to appreciate those facts.
If you don’t know, Lowell athletics
are enjoying a very successful period. Softball, Track, Tennis,
Cross Country, Wrestling and Swimming have all ventured down state which
is quite an accomplishment.
Then there is the Football program, yes, Lowell has our 1st
State Football Championship Team winning in 2005, only to again return
to the final game in 2007. The future looks bright for all our
athletes.
With a renovated school, including gymnasium and new field house, some sports are enjoying the benefits. Unfortunately the Inferno, our football field, has not been so lucky. The Inferno is the only place in the town of Lowell where over 4,000 people come to watch an event, only to leave thinking we live in the past. Bleachers from the mid 70’s, same for the concession stand, not to mention the restrooms….not very impressive (or sanitary, especially when there are only three, sometimes working, stalls and 4000 patrons).
Now for the great news: Recently, a couple of businessmen and the Lowell Athletic Booster Club met to discuss these issues. After meeting with the Tri Creek School Corporation and having them commit to investing $ 300,000.00 to renovate the bleachers, they realized this is a nice start, however, not enough. What about the Press Box, the Concession Stand and the Restrooms?
RDP…If you have been to an athletic event recently, you know, you have experienced what this means. “Red Devil Pride”, not only in our athletes but in our community.
The Booster Club, along with a couple of local business men and past Red Devils themselves, has decided to step up and take on this mission. Yes, it is a big endeavor, but Lowell has roots. Lowell as a community and with the support of LHS alumni can make a difference.
We can bring the past, (the existing Inferno) into the future.
Thus, the Inferno Alliance was born. This organization is part of the Booster Club dedicated to the renovations of the Inferno. We do this not only for the past, not only for the present, but for the future.
Now, we ask that you look into your past. Remember the hard work, the team work, the parts of your athletic past that has made you what you are today. See a future not only for our athletes but for our town as well. No matter where you may live now, Lowell will always be “home” and you will always be a Red Devil at Heart.
With that said, we need to restore the Inferno and with your finical support we can make it happen.
Also remember, the Lowell Athletic Booster Club, Inc. is a 501c3 Non for Profit organization which will maximize your tax deduction.
With Red Devil Pride
